Congratulations to Ian Egginton

Back in March we wrote about Ian Egginton who had set himself the challenge of riding from Perth to Melbourne in prevention of Teen suicide.

Ian achieved his target and completed the ride on schedule in 21 days.

You can read about Ian's ride on his web site: - http://www.outbackfrog.com/

Well done Ian and thanks for doing it for a great cause.

Looking after each other

We've had a couple of rides recently where we have left a member of our group behind without realising. A special thank you to Graham and Ken who came to the rescue of those left behind.

The Ride_Group comprises a great bunch of people who care for and look after each other.

Sure, there are times when we have a burst of energy and take off (I admit to being one of the worst offenders) but we generally stay together.

Graham, regardless of where you are in the group you're frequently watching out for others and "keeping the flock together" like an energetic sheep dog (your words I think). Thank you ..you're truly amazing. It didn't quite work today ..but it shouldn't fall on the shoulders of any one person.

Lets generate some discussion on how we can all better communicate and stay aware so we can look after each other and stay safe.

Saturday April 5, 2013 - Armadale

Ride Organiser: Jenny Aramini
Organiser's email: Jenny.Aramini@lifecyclewa.com
Organiser's mobile telephone no: 0401 965 089
Ride style: Social
Terrain: Fairly Flat
Estimated Distance: 70 kms apprrox
Start Point: Maylands, Narrows - South Side
Start Time: Maylands 8:00 am, Narrows 8:30 am

Jenny's suggested route for the Armadale ride is
  1. Narrows to Riverton Bridge, via South Perth foreshore, Douglas Ave, Hayman Rd, Lawson St, Centenary Ave
  2. bike path to along south side of river to Nicholson Rd
  3. Spencer St, Corfield Rd, Lake Rd, Armadale Rd to Dome or Gloria Jeans in Armadale
  4. Armadale Rd, Lake Rd, Ranford Rd to Roe Hwy
  5. bike path along Roe Hwy to Kwinana Fwy and then Fwy bike path to Narrows
Prior to tackling the section to Roe Highway we'll sort out our strategy to ensure this remains safe.
